Here is my go-to post workout meal. It has the 2 most important nutrients your body needs after an intense workout: high quality protein (for muscle building and recovery) and unrefined carbs (to replenish your glycogen stores).
(**If you take BCAA’s, add in as well. BCAA’s promote muscle growth and recovery. I always add a scoop in.)
It’s also loaded with essential fats,vitamins, and minerals. Not to mention it’s super refreshing after a good sweat sesh. Feel free to top with as many toppings as you can- the more the merrier!
- 1 scoop vanilla whey protein powder
- 3/4 cup frozen mixed berries
- ½ cup non-fat yogurt
- 6-8 pieces of ice
- Peanut butter
- Sliced banana
- Chia seeds
- Hemp seeds
- Sunflower seeds
- Sesame seeds
- Honey (preferably raw)
- Shredded coconut (unsweetened)
Add all smoothie mixture ingredients together in blender. Blend until smooth. Pour into bowl. Top with as many topping from the list as possible!
